Vintage Glamour Weddings

So many brides want their wedding day to ooze glamour with a side order of vintage chic. And if you are one of the those brides you'll be bang on trend this season with a vintage glamour wedding theme.

Think firstly about your wedding stationery. As this will be the first thing guests will see, you need to create an impact with your invites as well as to allocate a generous dollop of funds to this key area. In terms of style, black and white photographs work really well on vintage wedding invitations. Equally, anything featuring silk, satin, diamante, lace, is bejewelled or that sparkles will bring a sense of glamour to your wedding.

Secondly, you need to consider the style in which you wish to present your bridesmaids in. If you go for sexy, long gowns and faux fur shrugs you will not go far wrong. In terms of shades, black, cream, sage green, silver, white or navy work really well. Make up should be soft though lipstick should be bright red and alluring. To complete the glamorous look, hair should be scooped up in a French pleat or left curly and tousled and dotted with hair jewels. Headbands with diamante stones and bows on also look pretty, especially for younger bridesmaids. For jewellery, stick to pearl earrings and pearl drop necklaces.

Your gown needs to be stylish, fitted, very long and very feminine. The bridal gown should feature pearls, diamantes, gems, silk and lace for a truly vintage glamour. Mini hats and feather fascinators are more in keeping with the vintage glamour look though are not suited to all brides. It might be worth getting a vintage lace umbrella too; not only are these stylish but very practical at British weddings! Throw in a little vintage chic by borrowing a classic silver diamond piece from an aunt or grandmother; perfect for your 'something borrowed.' Long gloves and sky scraper heels will add further glamour to your outfit.

Some further style ideas that would complete the look of your reception room are 1950's black and white posters, ice sculptures and strings of pearls hanging from wherever you can. Candelabras will add a little gothic glamour to your event if you want to give the theme a further twist.

Although it might appear costly, it's important to continue the theme of the wedding with a glamorous menu. Guests should be greeted with sparkling wine or champagne if budget allows and mouth-watering canap s. Your wedding breakfast should include some lobster, crab or prawns in addition to smoked salmon and cured meats. Guests could be offered smaller platters in the form of a 'tasting' menu which may keep the cost of the food down.

Continue the theme of elegance and riche across your wedding cake. Have your cake iced in pure white and top it with a diamante monogram cake topper. Feathers, diamante stones and pearls would make welcome decorative additions. Equally, these style ideas could be copied across cupcakes which could also double as wedding favours.

Lastly, don't forget to have tea-lights dotted about your reception room. The light will be reflected around the room and pick up the sparkle from your diamantes. This will give your guests a real sense of occasion and give them room a soft, sparkly, luxurious glow.
