The Classic White Wedding Despite the influx of brightly coloured wedding themes, the 'white wedding' is being tipped as the big colour for this season. Bring some purity, virginal style and crisp lines into your wedding theme with a classic white wedding. You must firstly be aware that you do not need to have all the tones of white in your scheme exactly the same. In fact, the fusion of creamy whites with brilliant whites will have an overall feel of depth. So you do not need to be hung up on matching all the shades of white together, go forth and blend! In contrast, when it comes to choosing your dress, anything goes as long as it is traditional white, ivory or pale cream but not a strong tone. Don't go for any gowns in champagne, rich cream, red, black etc as this will not work with your scheme. If your man is brave, he could opt for a light coloured suit if your wedding has a beach location, a white linen suit would be ideal. For those having a typical church wedding, an ivory suit would be better or even a grey morning suit accompanied by a white waistcoat, white tie and white button hole flowers. As far as the bridesmaid dresses are concerned, these will need to be white too. You could add pale organic green sashes or baby pink ribbons to add a little colour if you wanted to, as long as you don't go for anything outlandishly strong in tone. As far as the bridesmaid dresses are concerned, these will need to be white too. You could add pale organic green sashes or baby pink ribbons to add a little colour if you wanted to, but as before, no strong colours will work. White flowers will be the order of the day, so speak to your florist about various options depending on the time of year, budget and sustainability. Good white wedding flowers will be in the form of roses, calla lilies, gypsophila, orchids, lily of the valley, snowdrop, babies' breath, gerbera or tulips. If you want to bring further nature into your theme, ask your florist to include white butterflies on stems in your bouquet or white dove figurines. Such emblems can be carried across into your table decor, wedding favours and wedding stationery. When it comes to transportation why don't you arrange to be transported to your venue in cool white style? Any white vehicle will be perfect, especially if decorated with white car ribbon and pretty white blooms scattered across the back window. Many wedding transport companies will have vehicles in which such as a Rolls Royce, limousines and so on. White horses and white carriages are also available for hire if you want to go the whole nine yards! Another great style tip guaranteed to add further impact at your venue would be to lay white runners along the aisle thickly spread with white preserved rose petals. Your flower girls or bridesmaids can precede your entrance by scattering your path with petals, confetti or flower heads. Invite ushers to hand out confetti cones to guests filled with white confetti or petals for throwing at the happy couple. When it comes to the eats, there are many ways in which you can incorporate the 'white' theme into your food. Give guests drinks on arrival in frosted white glasses encrusted with sugared edges and topped with mint. Canapes should be white and green in appearance to continue the soft, organic feel of the event. Mozzarella topped canapes look great especially when topped with basil leaves. Sushi is also perfect for this type of theme or blinis. Treat guests to meringue nests filled with fresh fruit, topped with cream and icing sugar or vanilla cheesecake for dessert. Your tables should be neatly decorated in accordance with the purity of the wedding. Floral centrepieces should contain the same blooms as your bouquet and table linen should be crisp and white. Dot clear tea light holders around tables and finish with iridescent confetti hearts, clear table gems or strings of pearls. Tie napkins with white feathers and thick white satin ribbon. If you have used white butterflies or white doves in other areas, incorporate these in table decor on place cards, menu boards, chair ties etc. For added flair, suspend white sheets from the ceiling and dot with diamante stones; this will give your venue a little extra panache especially as the sun sets. Your table centrepiece will always be your delicious wedding cake. A lot of the supermarket purchased wedding cakes are already iced in white, so these will not be an extra expense added into in your white theme. Simply decorate your cake with scented white flowers, butterfly trims, diamante stones and even beautiful white doves. Co-ordinate your white cake with white guest favours. Give guests favour boxes trimmed with white butterflies and secured with white organza ribbon. White sugared almonds in white tulle would also make pretty favours and these could be personalised with ribbon or tags. Hopefully this has given you some food for thought. Creating a wholesome white wedding theme is easy to achieve and can look incredibly chic without the hefty price tag.
