Fine English Weddings

It's a know fact that those who live in England are incredibly proud of their heritage. So it goes without saying that for British brides, an English wedding is everything they have ever dreamed of. This article seeks to provide some great style tips in preparation for creating a quintessentially English wedding.

Don't forget that England is not renowned for it's good weather. Though, a true Brit is ever the optimist when it comes to the great British summer. In fact, come rain or shine, an English summer will certainly see the milk bottles legs of the locals and many a smoking barbecue come the August. And although you cannot be guaranteed the weather like you can in some other countries, if you are going for an English wedding, you should think about organising your big day for the spring or summertime.

Bunting, in true British style can liven any venue and looks great in the garden. Deck your venue with bright bunting and adorn St. George's flags about the place. Centre tables with classic English rose arrangements. These will naturally be English red and should form the basis of your perfect English ceremony.

Lay trellis tables with white linen cloths and bunch bunting around them. Scatter red petals on the cloths and place lanterns at each place setting. Potted hyacinth bulbs and terracotta pots of mini daffodils also look great on wedding tables and generally compliment the red tones from the roses. Provide guests with a typically English meal of a summer barbecue, yummy fish and chips or a traditional Sunday Roast dinner.

We always associate Wimbledon style with the great British summertime so give guests ripe and ready to eat strawberries to dip into a lavish chocolate fountain for their dessert. Deep red strawberries are naturally in keeping with your theme and could also be used elsewhere for stylish touches; emblems on personalised napkins, attached to place cards and as napkin ties. Marzipan strawberries will also make the ideal toppers for a cupcake tower though in true British style, the cupcakes are to be home made delicious! If you wish to be in keeping with English wedding tradition, have a small fruit cake iced to be saved for your firstborn's Christening which may occur sometime in the years ahead.

We also think of the cup of tea when we think of England, so make this a feature in your English themed wedding. Give guests a refreshing cup of tea upon arrival at your reception and ensure the tea is given in fine bone china cups and saucers. Canap s go down surpassingly well with a delicious cup of tea, far better than with a champagne actually. To be in keeping with your theme you could give guest personalised tea bags as wedding favours!

Don't underestimate the importance of the family to the English. Make your family matter too along with any younger members; it would not be a true English wedding if there are no little toddlers running round getting grass stains on pretty white dresses or little boys who are filling their shorts with sticky snails!

And lastly, if you really want to go to town with the English heritage, choose favours that are typically associated with England. In other words, give guests British Love hearts in favour bags, or even a lavish chocolate favour from Harrods!
